Another important aspect of this feature is the information that the unknown phone number is not saved in the user's contacts. This is intended to encourage users to act more cautiously before communicating with the unknown number. WhatsApp also informs users whether they and the unknown number share any chat groups.

This information is meant to help users better assess the trustworthiness of the unknown number. The brief interruption caused by the warning message gives users time to think about the situation. The feature aims to undermine the tactics of fraudsters, who often rely on potential victims reacting immediately. The forced pause is designed to prevent users from acting impulsively and potentially falling victim to fraud. Below the warning message, there are two options: "Continue Chat" and "End Chat."

The user's decision is not communicated to the owner of the unknown phone number. This protects users' privacy and prevents fraudsters from obtaining information about the behavior of their potential victims. However, if the unknown number matches an already known contact, WhatsApp recommends inquiring through another means to confirm whether the contact has indeed changed their phone number.
