Total Commander 11.58 Released – Bug Fixes and New Features

Programmer Christian Ghisler released version 11.58 of the file manager Total Commander on July 3, 2026. This update follows just a few weeks after the previous version 11.57 and focuses primarily on bug fixes. Users are encouraged to download the new version promptly to benefit from the improvements. One of the central changes in Total Commander 11.58 concerns the secure handling of archives with encrypted filenames.

This feature aims to prevent directory names from leaking through tabs or history. Additionally, names of archives with encrypted headers are no longer written to the log file by default, which can be configured through the "LogEncryptedNames" option in the "wincmd.ini" file. The version number has been changed from 11.57a to 11.58 to resolve issues with the package manager WinGet. This reflects the program's continuous adaptation to current software standards and user needs. The new version also introduces a new placeholder [X+] in the mass renaming tool, which inserts text from the clipboard but generates an empty string if the clipboard contains no text.

Furthermore, support for negative symbol numbers in the configuration bar and single buttons has been implemented. These are now interpreted as resource IDs, enhancing the program's adaptability. Another bug affecting the cm_FocusLeft function has also been fixed, improving user experience. Total Commander is known for its extensive features that go beyond basic file operations. These include packing and unpacking Zip archives, synchronizing directories including subdirectories, and various FTP functions.

The software supports multiple languages and is particularly popular among Windows power users. The new version is free for all registered users, who can easily install the update over the existing full version. Users who have not yet licensed Total Commander can test the software as shareware for 30 days. After this period, they must purchase the full version or uninstall the software.

Support for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems remains, allowing use on older Windows versions like Windows 95 as well as current versions such as Windows 10 and Windows 11. This demonstrates the program's flexibility, catering to various user groups. The complete changelog with all improvements and bug fixes is available on the official Total Commander website. There, users can also find the changelogs of previous release candidates, providing a comprehensive overview of the program's development. Version 11.58 of Total Commander marks another step in the continuous improvement of the file manager, which has been on the market for many years. The software has established itself as an indispensable tool for many Windows users who value efficient file management. The new version is now available and can be downloaded directly from the official website.
