Munich to Host Europe's Largest Rocket Factory

Isar Aerospace has announced the construction of one of the largest rocket factories in the world in Parsdorf near Munich. This new production facility is crucial for the serial manufacturing of rocket systems designed for access to space. The factory is expected to significantly increase production capacities and improve manufacturing efficiency. The decision to locate in Munich was influenced by its proximity to key research and development institutions as well as a network of suppliers and partners. Isar Aerospace plans to employ state-of-the-art technologies in the new factory to reduce production costs and enhance the quality of the rockets.

The factory will occupy an area of 30,000 square meters and is designed to produce multiple rockets per month. This is a significant step to meet the rising demand for satellite launches, which has grown exponentially in recent years. Isar Aerospace has already conducted several successful tests of its Spectrum rocket. This rocket is designed to transport small satellites into orbit and aims to provide cost-effective solutions for companies and governments needing access to space. The factory is scheduled to open in 2027, with the first rockets expected to be produced in series by 2028.

Investments in the new facility amount to several million euros, which will also contribute to job creation in the region. Manufacturing in Parsdorf will not only expand Isar Aerospace's production capacities but also strengthen the company's innovative capabilities. By integrating Industry 4.0 technologies, the factory will be able to optimize production processes and enhance efficiency. The new facility will also play a vital role in the European space strategy. With the support of the European Space Agency (ESA) and national space agencies, Isar Aerospace will be able to further develop its technologies and explore new markets.

The demand for satellite launches has doubled in recent years, underscoring the need for an efficient and scalable production infrastructure. Isar Aerospace expects that the new factory will make a significant contribution to meeting this demand. The manufacturing capacities in Parsdorf will also provide the opportunity to develop customized solutions for clients. This includes both commercial and scientific missions tailored to the specific requirements of customers.

The investment in the new rocket factory is part of a comprehensive strategy by Isar Aerospace aimed at increasing competitiveness in the global space market. CEO Daniel Metzler emphasized that the factory represents a "milestone for the European space industry" and showcases the company's innovative strength. The new production facility is expected to create up to 500 jobs, thus providing a significant economic boost for the Munich region. The first employees are set to be hired in 2026 to support preparations for the production start.
