Volkswagen has introduced the new electric ID. Polo, which is based on the updated MEB platform. The model measures 4.05 m in length, 1.82 m in width, and 1.53 m in height. The trunk offers a volume of 441 liters, which can be expanded to 1,243 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The vehicle's curb weight is 1.57 tons.

The ID. Polo will be available with two battery sizes. The entry-level model is equipped with a 37 kWh battery, enabling a range of up to 329 km according to WLTP. The larger 52 kWh battery offers a theoretical range of up to 454 km and is only combinable with the 155 kW drive and the later GTI version. The vehicle will be offered in three power levels: 85 kW (116 hp), 99 kW (135 hp), and 155 kW (211 hp).

A GTI version with 166 kW (229 hp) is expected to follow at a later date. The fast-charging function is standard and allows a charging power of up to 105 kW, enabling a charge from 10 to 80 percent in just over 20 minutes. The Polo also supports bidirectional charging and is equipped with features such as Vehicle-to-Load. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the vehicle offers a larger trunk than the gasoline-powered model.

The interior is characterized by a digital driver environment with a screen of up to 13 inches, while physical buttons for central functions such as climate and audio are present. A tow hitch can also be ordered. The Polo will be available in various trim levels, with the cheapest model featuring the 37 kWh battery in the Trend trim starting at a price of €24,995. However, the delivery of the vehicle will not begin until late summer or autumn 2026.

Orders for the cheapest electric model will be possible starting mid-July 2026. From late April 2026, the ID. Polo in a higher trim level can be ordered starting at a list price of €36,040, with a purchase premium of €3,000 applicable. This means that the price for the most affordable electric model will be just over €33,000. Volkswagen has announced that the ID.

Polo will play an important role in the company's electrification strategy. The introduction of the model is part of the plan to significantly expand the product range by 2030 and increase the share of electric vehicles. The Polo is seen as a key model to attract younger buyers and increase market share in the compact electric vehicle segment. The first deliveries of the new ID. Polo are planned for late summer 2026, giving Volkswagen the opportunity to observe and respond to the demand for electric vehicles in the coming months.
