Mercedes-AMG Launches Sales of the Fully Electric GT 55
Mercedes-AMG has announced the launch of sales for its first fully electric model, the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe. With a power output of 1,169 hp (860 kW) and a torque of up to 2,000 Nm, the vehicle sets new standards in the electric vehicle class. The model is based on the new AMG.EA platform and is equipped with three electric motors that enable all-wheel drive. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in just 2.1 seconds, making the GT 63 4-Door Coupe faster than the significantly more expensive Ferrari Luce, which takes 2.5 seconds for the same distance. With the Driver’s Package, the vehicle reaches a top speed of 300 km/h.
Technically, the GT 55 impresses with a new 800-volt system and a 106 kWh battery that uses directly cooled battery cells, inspired by Formula 1. The maximum charging power is 600 kW, allowing for a range of over 460 km after just ten minutes of charging. A full charge from 10 to 80 percent is expected to take about eleven minutes under optimal conditions. Despite the high performance figures, the manufacturers state that both versions of the vehicle have a WLTP range of over 680 km, while the Ferrari Luce offers a WLTP range of over 530 km. Mercedes-AMG emphasizes the engineering excellence of the new model, describing it as a masterpiece that heralds a new dimension of performance.
The driving experience is expected to be characteristically dynamic, redefining expectations for fully electric vehicles. Sales of the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe have already begun. The entry price for the model with 816 hp starts at €154,700, while the top model GT 63 4-Door Coupe with 1,169 hp is available from €196,350. This positions the vehicle as significantly more affordable compared to the Ferrari Luce. The market launch of the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe occurs in an increasingly competitive electric vehicle market, where manufacturers like Tesla and Porsche are also strongly represented.
Mercedes-AMG plans to further expand the production and distribution of the new model in the coming months. The first deliveries of the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupe are scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. The demand for high-performance electric vehicles is growing, underscoring Mercedes-AMG's strategic focus on electromobility. “We are proud to present the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, a vehicle that sets benchmarks not only in performance but also in range,” said a company spokesperson.
