Google Unveils Gemini Intelligence at I/O 2026

Google introduced the new feature Gemini Intelligence at the Android Show I/O on May 13, 2026, which will be available to Android users in the summer of 2026. The first devices to benefit from this technology are the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 smartphones. Gemini Intelligence aims to automate time-consuming tasks, thereby providing relief to users. A key feature of Gemini Intelligence is its ability to book sports classes.

For instance, users can reserve a spot in a spinning class or add required books to their cart. Google describes the feature as a type of personal assistant that takes care of organizing activities. App automation is further enhanced by the ability to add screen or image context. Users can create a shopping list in their notes app and instruct Gemini Intelligence to compile a cart with all items for delivery. This is done by simply holding the power button over the list.

Another example of Gemini Intelligence's functionality is the ability to scan travel brochures. Users can take a photo of a brochure and instruct Gemini to find a similar trip for a group of six on Expedia. While Gemini works in the background, users receive notifications about the progress of the request. The adaptability of Gemini Intelligence is also evident in the creation of custom widgets. Users can describe in natural language what they want, and Gemini will then create a dashboard that can be added directly to the home screen.

For example, users can ask for high-protein recipes for meal prep. While browsing the internet, Gemini Intelligence provides support by researching, summarizing, and comparing content. This feature will be integrated into the Chrome browser to enhance the user experience. Additionally, web forms can be filled out with a single tap, significantly speeding up the process. Another innovative feature is speech processing.

Gemini Intelligence can recognize and filter out unnecessary filler words like "uhh." This feature is referred to by Google as "Rambler" and aims to optimize speech interaction with the device. The introduction of Gemini Intelligence is seen as a significant step in the evolution of Android. Google plans to gradually expand the technology to more devices to reach a broader user base. Full integration into Android is expected by summer 2026. "Gemini takes care of the organization for you—whether it's snagging a front-row seat for your spinning class," a Google spokesperson explained during the presentation.
