GMKtec EVO-X5 Pro: New Mini-PC for AI Applications

GMKtec has officially launched the EVO-X5 Pro, a mini-PC aimed at developers and companies looking to run large AI models locally. The device is equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and offers 192 GB of shared LPDDR5X memory. The hardware was first introduced at the IFA in Berlin in early September 2026. The EVO-X5 Pro allows for the execution of language models with up to 320 billion parameters, an increase from the previously announced 300 billion. This optimization enables complex AI models to be operated entirely locally without a cloud connection.

However, GMKtec emphasizes that actual performance depends on various factors, including the AI model used and the system configuration. Inside the EVO-X5 Pro, the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 operates with 16 Zen-5 cores and 32 threads, achieving a maximum clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz. The integrated Radeon 8065S is based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture and features 40 compute units. Additionally, an XDNA-2 NPU is integrated, providing AI performance of up to 55 TOPS. A central feature of the EVO-X5 Pro is the 192 GB LPDDR5X-8533 memory, designed as Unified Memory.

This means that both the CPU and GPU can access the same memory pool, enhancing efficiency when processing large amounts of data. The memory bandwidth reaches up to 273 GB/s, with up to 160 GB dynamically usable as graphics memory. The interfaces of the EVO-X5 Pro stand out significantly from typical mini-PCs. It features two USB4-V2 ports capable of transferring data at up to 80 Gbit/s, as well as two additional USB4 ports with a maximum of 40 Gbit/s. For fast network connections, there are two 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports, enabling high data transfer rates.

The internal storage of the EVO-X5 Pro can be expanded up to 24 TByte, providing ample space for extensive data and applications required for AI projects. Furthermore, the device supports external graphics cards, increasing flexibility in hardware configuration. GMKtec has specifically designed the EVO-X5 Pro for users who wish to run powerful AI applications locally.
