Total Commander 11.57 Released
Christian Ghisler has released the latest version of the file manager Total Commander 11.57. After six release candidates, the final version is now available. The release brings a number of improvements and new features aimed at enhancing user experience. One of the most notable changes concerns the command line. Users can now run the program as an administrator by placing an asterisk (*) at the beginning of the command line.
This feature simplifies access to elevated permissions and could be particularly significant for power users. In the configuration area, the 'Icon Index' field in the toolbar has been revamped. It is now a text field that allows users to quickly jump to a specific icon. This improvement could significantly enhance efficiency when using the file manager. Another update pertains to the search function.
From now on, the name of the loaded settings will be displayed in the title bar, making it easier to identify the active configuration. This could be especially beneficial for users working with multiple settings. The lister function has also received an update. Users can now specify which context menu entries are allowed. This customization option could further personalize and improve the user experience.
Additionally, the command cm_MkDir now supports parameters such as /N="Name(n)". This functionality allows for more flexible handling when creating new directories and could simplify working with files and folders. The new versions of the unrar and 7-zip DLLs have also been integrated into Total Commander 11.57. These updates are important for ensuring compatibility with various archive formats and optimizing the program's performance. For registered users, the update to Total Commander 11.57 remains free.
Installation is straightforward via the existing full version. Users who have not yet licensed the program can test the shareware for 30 days before needing to purchase a license. Total Commander is known for its functionalities in the Norton Commander style. It offers numerous additional features, including packing and unpacking zip archives as well as directory synchronization. These features make it an indispensable tool for many Windows power users.
Support for multiple languages is another feature that sets Total Commander apart from other file managers. This functionality allows users worldwide to use the program in their preferred language. The new version is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems, ensuring compatibility across various Windows versions, including Windows 10 and Windows 11. The complete list of changes and improvements can be found in the changelog provided on the official Total Commander website. Users can also view the changelogs of previous release candidates there.
