Peugeot Recalls 612,196 Cars Due to Insufficient Horn Volume

Peugeot, a part of the Stellantis group, has announced a recall of 612,196 vehicles worldwide. The reason for this recall is that the factory-installed horn of the Peugeot 208 model does not meet the legally required minimum volume. This could lead to other road users not hearing the horn signal in critical traffic situations. In Germany, 34,850 vehicles are affected. The recall specifically concerns the compact car Peugeot 208, which was produced between September 1, 2019, and July 25, 2022.

The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has approved the recall and is overseeing its implementation. Affected vehicle owners will be informed directly by Peugeot. They should contact their authorized workshop to schedule an appointment for the horn replacement. The workshops will replace the horn free of charge with a louder model. The duration of the replacement is not specified; however, it is assumed that the process can be completed promptly.

According to the information regarding the recall, no further measures, such as software updates, are required. So far, the KBA is not aware of any damages caused by the insufficient horn volume. The recall is being conducted under strict supervision of the KBA, which ensures that the affected vehicles are retrofitted as quickly as possible.
