Volkswagen Unveils ID.3 Neo with New Technology
Volkswagen has introduced the ID.3 Neo, which replaces the previous ID.3 and represents a comprehensive overhaul of the electric vehicle offensive in the compact segment. This new model goes beyond a simple update and includes a new name, a redesigned interior, and modernized technology. The powertrain has been optimized, allowing for a range of up to 630 kilometers according to WLTP, thanks to a larger battery. The vehicle will be offered in three battery sizes: 50, 58, and 79 kWh, with power outputs ranging from 170 to 231 hp. The efficiency of the drive has also been improved, resulting in a higher range and lower consumption values.
The charging system has been upgraded, enabling the smaller batteries to be charged at up to 105 kW, while the top version can reach up to 183 kW during fast charging. Externally, the ID.3 Neo features a new design that includes an updated light signature at the front. Inside, the focus has been on a clearer layout of controls and higher material quality. Volkswagen emphasizes that the interior is intended to convey the impression of a higher-class vehicle. The newly designed infotainment system includes a 10.25-inch driver display and a central 12.9-inch screen.
An integrated app store allows for the activation of features after purchase, providing users with additional flexibility. These innovations aim to further enhance the driving experience and increase user-friendliness. Technically, the ID.3 Neo also brings new features. The Connected Travel Assist can now recognize traffic lights and bring the vehicle to a stop at red lights. Additionally, one-pedal driving is introduced, simplifying vehicle operation and enhancing driving comfort.
These features are part of Volkswagen's efforts to further develop driver assistance systems. Another highlight is the support for Vehicle-to-Load, which allows external devices to be powered via the vehicle's battery. This function expands the vehicle's usability and could be highly beneficial for many users, especially during outdoor activities or emergencies. Pre-sales of the ID.3 Neo in Germany are expected to begin at the end of April 2026.
At that time, prices, technical specifications, and available equipment variants and options will also be announced. According to Autobild, an entry price of under 34,000 euros is anticipated. The market launch of the ID.3 Neo is planned for late summer 2026. With this model, Volkswagen aims to combine improved technology, greater range, and modern design to remain competitive in the growing electric vehicle market.
