Stellaris Celebrates Anniversary with New Season 10
Paradox Interactive has announced the return of the Citadel from the Mass Effect series in the new Season 10 of Stellaris. This expansion, celebrating the game's tenth anniversary, brings a comprehensive reorientation of gameplay. Players will take on the role of interstellar nomads, bidding farewell to static borders and utilizing mobile home worlds. Central to the new season are the Archships, which function as flying fortresses, laboratories, or industrial centers. These ships bear a strong resemblance to the Citadel from BioWare's Mass Effect and offer players the opportunity to shape their civilizations in entirely new ways.
The expansion titled Nomads will be released in the second quarter of 2026. A key feature of the new season is the abandonment of traditional colonization. Instead, players can strategically deploy their mobile home worlds and utilize trade routes. This allows for a more dynamic interaction with other civilizations and opens up new possibilities for intergalactic trade. Additionally, players can position themselves as defenders of the galaxy or use the new star cannon to obliterate entire systems.
These new gameplay elements are expected to significantly expand the strategic options in the game and provide players with greater freedom in shaping their interstellar empires. On May 11, 2026, the official anniversary of Stellaris, Paradox Interactive will permanently integrate the DLCs Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, and the Humanoids Pack into the base game. This measure aims to provide a more comprehensive experience for both new and existing players and lower the entry barrier. In the fourth quarter of 2026, another expansion titled Willpower will be released.
This will introduce ideologies as power tools and allow players to travel through the stars in a roguelike style. For the first time, it will also be possible to terrorize the galaxy as a crisis, bringing new challenges and gameplay mechanics. Updates 4.4 Pegasus to 4.6 Corona Borealis are also planned for 2026 and are set to further enhance the gaming experience. These updates will provide new content and balance adjustments to optimize gameplay and enrich the player experience. The return of the Citadel and the introduction of interstellar nomads in Stellaris mark a significant step in the game's development.
Paradox Interactive aims to revolutionize the player experience and open new avenues for strategic gameplay. The community has already shown great interest in the new features and the upcoming expansion. The release of Season 10 of Stellaris is expected in the second quarter of 2026, with the anniversary celebrated on May 11.
