Bentley Unveils First Electric Car Torcal

Bentley has officially unveiled its first electric car, the Torcal. This model marks the beginning of a new era for the British luxury brand and will be offered in two variants. The base model of the Torcal delivers a power output of 821 hp and a torque of 1,194 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h. The more powerful variant, the Torcal S, increases the output to 888 hp and 1,350 Nm.

With this configuration, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h. Both models utilize two electric motors and are equipped with a battery that offers a usable capacity of 113 kWh. The range of the Torcal is stated to be up to 600 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The vehicles are based on 800-volt technology, allowing for fast charging of up to 400 kW. Charging from 10 to 80 percent is expected to take about 16 minutes, while a range of 161 kilometers can be charged in just 7 minutes.

The chassis of the Torcal is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It will be the first Bentley with fully active suspension and features adaptive dampers as well as rear-wheel steering. Despite a length of around five meters, the Torcal has a turning circle of only 11.1 meters. The trunk offers a volume of 460 liters and is complemented by an additional front trunk with a capacity of 90 liters. Inside the Torcal, innovative features such as curved OLED screens, facial recognition, and front seats with 16-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions can be found.

This equipment is designed to elevate driving comfort to a new level and underscore Bentley's luxurious aspirations. Bentley has placed special emphasis on the sound of the electric car. Instead of imitating a conventional engine noise, musicians have used various instruments such as drums, viola, and bass guitar to create a unique driving sound. The inspiration for this sound comes from the rhythm of Bentley's classic 6.75-liter V8. For drivers who prefer silence, the sound can be completely deactivated.

The development of the Torcal took place in Crewe, UK, where the vehicle is also set to be produced. Bentley has not yet disclosed a price for the model. The market launch is planned for 2027, although a more precise timeframe has not been provided. The unveiling of the Torcal is a significant step for Bentley as the company increasingly moves towards electromobility. The combination of high performance, innovative technology, and luxurious design aims to attract new customers and position the brand in the growing electric vehicle market. The first test drives of the Torcal are already scheduled for next year to evaluate performance and new technologies under real-world conditions.
