Audi A2 e-tron Sets New Efficiency Record
The Audi A2 e-tron has set a new record with an energy consumption of 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometers. This figure is based on preliminary WLTP values and makes the vehicle the most efficient electric car Audi has produced to date. The manufacturer aims to reduce energy consumption as much as possible with this model. The efficiency of the A2 e-tron results from several technical improvements. Optimized aerodynamics have reduced the drag coefficient to a value of 0.24, which is the best among Audi's compact models.
An active air intake and various intelligent aerodynamic solutions also contribute to reducing energy consumption. In normal operation and at higher speeds, the cooling air intake remains closed to minimize drag and maximize range. During charging, heavy acceleration, or high external temperatures, the air intake opens to protect the battery and electronics. The powertrain of the A2 e-tron has also been fundamentally revised. A new power electronics system, a more efficient electric motor, and an optimized transmission are expected to improve system efficiency by up to 10 percent.
These technical innovations are part of Audi's strategy to enhance the performance and efficiency of their electric vehicles. Another feature of the A2 e-tron is support for bidirectional charging. The vehicle can power external electrical devices and acts as an energy storage unit for households when connected to a compatible charging station. This functionality could be of great interest to many users, as it increases flexibility in energy management. The premiere of the A2 e-tron is scheduled for autumn 2026.

The original Audi A2, launched in 2001, was known for its lightweight construction and aluminum space frame. In the 1.2-liter TDI variant, it consumed only about three liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. Despite its efficiency, the model did not achieve the desired sales numbers due to its high price.
